Why Equine Management?

Do you love horses? Combine an understanding of biology, physiology and horse behaviour with the business and managerial aspects of the equine industry. This powerful combination of business and animal science comes to life with hands-on training, giving you a competitive edge in your career journey. The Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management (B.B.R.M) program is Canada's first-degree program to offer a specialization in equine management.

Students in the Equine Management EQM program may also be interested in studying Animal Biology, Animal Science, Zoology, or other majors.

Gain Valuable Experience Through Co-op

Our Equine Management co-op is a five-year program, with four co-op work terms, providing opportunities to work with a wide variety of employers. Co-op is designed to facilitate the transition of students from academic studies to a professional career improving students’ job search skills, work performance and networking abilities, and boosting resume experience.

Choose this program to enter into the field of veterinary medicine and further develop your career in the animal health field.

 Unique Equine Learning Opportunities

Experience a hands-on approach to learning about the horse management and equine industries and businesses. Participate in international exchange, field trips, co-op, an internship course working with U of G's teaching herd, and independent research projects.

What Can You Do with a Degree in Equine Management?

Graduating students of the Equine Management program will be prepared for a broad range of leadership and managerial positions in the equine industry. Students can also take this major as an entry point to the field of veterinary medicine.

The University’s Equine Management program is the only one of its kind in Canada. I knew the program was perfect for me. My ultimate career goal is to improve horse’s welfare.
